In My Solo Career
I am passionate about my music, it comes from my soul and I believe it is my true vocation. from the age of 8 I have been playing bagpipes and at the age of 18 I was experimenting with different ways and sounds of the bagpipes, then at 21 I broke away from the "traditional bagpiper" ways.
From my early piping days I played in the traditional pipe bands such as the, "Inverkeithing High School Pipe Band", "Tbandhe City of Edinburgh Pipe Band" and "The Royal Burgh of Inverkeithing Pipe Band", "Torrevieja Pipes And Drums" (which is based in Spain).. But Then having fire in my belly I needed to see what was out there and then The Phantom Piper was born. I have played with big bands such as the famous "Saor Patrol" and sharing stages and Festival/Venues with The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, The Dropkick murphy's, The Wicked Tinkers, Seven Nations, Sweet, Corvus Corax, Alice Cooper, Weird Al Yankovic, The Irish Rovers, Tom Jones, The Saw Doctors, Saggy, Frank Sinatra Jr,. Diana Ross, The Kinks, The Outlaws, The Monkeys, The Drifters, The Dixie, America, Chicago, Starship, Albannach, Screaming Orphans, so far.
I have been so lucky to have had received opportunities to play at concerts and festivals as well as headlining many of them, all over the UK, Europe, USA, Canada and Australia.
Also being featured in the newspapers, television, radio, playing in front of audiences as large as 60,000 people.
I am currently playing with the big band "Celtica -Pipes Rock" and have been since spring 2013.With an explosive show not to be missed and with our unique sound of blazing bagpipes, mighty drums and the power of a rock band, Celtica takes by storm all audiences from Highland Games, town festivals, to bankers and punk rockers. In addition to their high energy music and fire juggling, flamethrowers on their instruments, guarantees a very exciting show for everyone. An event that's sure to please all the senses to boot!
Right away CELTICA got booked as headliner of the biggest Celtic/Scottish/Rock events in Europe, Canada and the USA.
I luckily achieved a 1# on the rock charts and have gained a video reward for best music video online. My Dark Island video on Youtube is sitting at over half a Million views!
I have just made an additional/remake of the Dark Island, as it went down so well first time round... it went CRAZY!!! I jut couldn't believe it... with 74,264 vies and 2,663 shares in just over a week. That is all thanks to my fantastic fans!
My thanks goes to (in no pacific order) to my family, for the endless support and encouragement. David Wardle, for the fantastic photos, help and support. And my fans and followers, without you all, I couldn't continue on my Journey and with my bag piping work thank you all from the bottom of my heart. My first album ‘Shores o’ the Forth’ I proudly dedicated to my dad who was sadly dying on cancer; and to all my family who have been a constant source of encouragement with never failing confidence in my ability. I produced my second album ‘Bend It Like Jane’ with the help of Shantyshack Recording Studios.
That album was really well received in Australia where i felt honoured to perform at the Highland Gathering as part of the Adelaide Music Festival and filled with radio interviews
